Rotted Benches Party Night at Players Bar Wirral Coastal Walkers Our Fun Day on 14th June Meols Mums Muck In

Welcome to our website  www.friendsofmeolspark.co.uk

Over the years we have watched the decline of our park. Meols park is enjoyed by locals and visitors coming to visit on a daily basis whether its bringing children and grandchildren on their way home from neighbouring schools to play on the swings, or to just sit and chat with friends and neighbours.

As the years have progressed and times do change, sometimes for the better but sometimes for the worse our local park has unfortunately gone into decline and has just recently been stripped of its slide and climbing frame by our local councils workmen on the grounds of health and safety issues, whereas other local parks like Queens Park, Grove Road, Carr Lane and Ashton Parks have been well maintained and are very much better equipped than ours. The Carr Lane Park in particular, has had a total revamp.

Many of us do tend to point a finger, criticize or just complain without taking any action. Having realised that the decline of our park was getting worse, combined with the need to generate an increased interest locally, The Friends of Meols Park group has been formed. This decision was taken following a meeting at the park between a small group of residents and Gerry Ellis  a local

ward councillor, along with Esther McVey  a local business woman.

The formation of a Friends group will allow us to work in partnership

with the Local Authority, and most importantly the users of the park,

the local community. The more people that get involved the more we

are going to achieve, hopefully,a park that will form the heart of the

local community life.

Of course we all have dreams, ambitions, and ideas of what can be

done, some big, in fact very big, others small but with big impact.

The formation of The Friends is that 1st step on what will likely be a

long ladder. We are under no illusions about upgrading the park or

change perceptions, attitudes or behaviour over night.

But what we can do is make a good start and work together to

start the process of making the park a safe, clean, and enjoyable

experience for every generation.

This website is just one of the first initiatives to promote, inform

and facilitate debate on some of the key issues. So please do

visit us on a regular basis and drop us an email, whether it be

to declare your support or to share your views and suggestions

with us. We welcome all ideas and comments.
